A springtime delicacy emerging from the earth and reaching for the sun. Whether lightly steamed, roasted to caramelized perfection, or grilled to smoky tenderness, each bite evokes the freshness of the season. Produces thick, dark green shoots and very resistant to rust. Harvest in the third year. Foliage is also great for the cut flower patch.
When to Sow: Feb - Apr
HOW TO SOW:
Soak seeds in warm water for 2 hours to aid germination. Sow on to damp compost and cover with 2cm of soil. Ideal temp 20°C.Transplant into individual pots once large enough to handle and grow on under glass for some protection until the following year.
Plant out the following spring into trenches with plenty of organic matter. Roots should be spread across the trench and watered in well with a good layer of mulch over the top.
