With flowers resembling pin cusions, this florists favourite is a great garden filler which will repeat flower if cut early.  Its also the perfect flower for a partially shaded spot.

When to Sow: Sep - March

HOW TO SOW:
Seeds may need more than one period of cold stratification to germinate.

It is best to sow seeds in Autumn onto damp compost and leave outside to naturally cold stratify. Germination should then occur when the weather warms in late winter/early spring.

Alternatively seeds can be sowed into pots of damp compost and then refrigerated for 2- 4 weeks then brought into the warmth,Ideal temp 18 °C.  If germination does not occour the process should be repeated.

The poly bag and wet tissue method of germination is also very good for Astrantia seeds.
