Red sprouts which deepen with colour as the weather gets colder. Excellent flavour and good reristance to disease this varierty is great for harvesting before Christmas.

 

When to Sow: Mar - May

HOW TO SOW BRUSSEL SPROUTS:
Feb - March sow indoors  - In pots or moudules of moist well drained compost and just cover with soil . Ideal Temp 10-15°C. Transplant when large enough to handle and grow on until plants are robust enough to withstand pests and harden off before planting out to final positions 60cm appart.
Apr - May sow direct - into a prepared seed bed and just cover with soil. Thin to 60cm when after the last frost and they are large enough to handle.

  • Care: Feeding is not usually required unless the soil is particularly poor. Keep well watered and do not allow to dry out. May need protection from birds
  • Use: Edible Harvest: Pick the lowest sprounts forst working up the stem, cutting with a sharp knife so as to not damage the stem. Harvests are improved after frosts.
