A dwarf early spring variety with pointy compact heads. Can also be grown for spring greens.


Excellent source of vitamins A, C and B. The darkest leaves contain the most nutrients.

 

When to Sow: July - Aug

 

HOW TO SOW:
Prepare the planting site  couple of months before hand with plenty of organic matter.


Sow indoors  - In pots or moudules of moist well drained compost and cover with 2cm of soil . Ideal Temp 13°C. Transplant when large enough to handle and grow on until plants are robust enough to withstand  before planting out to final positions 30cm appart.


Sow direct - into a prepared seed bed 2cm deep. Thinning to 5cm for growing on before transplanting to final positions 30cm appart for mature heads. Alternatively plant out with 15cm spacing and crop alternative plants in March as spring greens, leaving the rest to fully mature.


Plant seedlings 1.5cm deeper than they were in the seed bed or pot.
