An interesting red variety maincrop carrot. With red skin and flesh, Crisp & delicious. Also try companion planting with Onions, leeks or mint to help deter carrotfly.High in antioxdant beta carotene which converts to vitamin A in the body. When to Sow: Apr - Jun HOW TO SOW CARROTS: Soil should be prepared a few weeks before sowing with a general purpose fertilizer, do not add manure. Sow direct - into a prepared seed bed either in drills or broadcast sowed. Cover with 1cm of compost. Sow thinly to avoid having to thin and this will attract carrot fly. If you have to thin the seedlings, do so in the evening. Water before thinning and remove all the debris and do not transplant. - Classification: Hardy Annual

- Care: Keep well watered until germination occurs. Then keep on the dry side as excess water will encourage leafy top growth rather than root growth. Earth up around stems if necessary to prevent greening. Can be covered with fleece for extra protection from carrotfly.
- Use: Edible Harvest: Pick when roots reach required size. Any damaged stems should be used straight away, but those which are pristine can be stored in sand for use later. Pull every other carrot to give remaining ones more room to grow.
