Autumn Crown is a beautiful ribbed variety of pumpkin with pale peach skin. It has a long shelf life and early fruit which are  just the right size for kitchen use.

 

When to Sow: Apr - Jun

 

HOW TO SOW PUMPKINS:
Ensure final planting site has  lots of well rotted organic matter .

Sow Apr- Mid May under glass & Mid May to June can be sowed outdoors.


Sow - In pots or cell trays 2cm deep. Seeds should be sowed in their edge to prevent rotting.   Water well. Ideal Temp 18-21°C. Prick out into individual pots when large enough to handle.  Harden off and plant out into final positions when risk of frost has passed.

  • Soil Type: Will grow in most soils

  • Moisture: Well drained
  • Care: Water well  throughout the growing season. To grow one large fruit pinch out all but one fruit, water well and feed regularly for maximum size. Alternatively pinch out  growing tips after  no more than 4 fruits have formed.  Raise fruits off the ground to prevent rotting.
  • Use: Edible
  • Harvest:  Before the first frost,   leaving 5cm of stem with the fruit. Can be left in a frost free place for the skin to harden off. Can be stored for upto- 5 months in  cool dark place. 
  • Days to Maturity:  100-138 Days
